Born in Raiatea, 20 years old, favorite animal the Manta ray, Gary Tamatoa has only been in the
business for 8 years and already he tops the snowboarding charts. This Tahitian discovered the snowy
slopes for the first time at age 11, and quickly became a well-known name in French freestyle.
A veritable half-pipe prodigy, he brought his own style to an otherwise unfamiliar environment.
Conscious that success only results from hard work, he next will take on the 2 Alpes. As a growing
figure on the international circuit, Gary Tamatoa is a favorite for a Snowboarding Half-pipe medal in
the upcoming Turin Olympics. To succeed at this goal, he is focusing on the World Cup circuit and
making himself an integral part of the French Olympic Team. He is growing just as much on the TTR
circuit, last season having been the only Frenchman to participate in the Arctic Challenge, and finishing
beautifully by bringing home the half-pipe World Cup from Tandadalen, Sweden.
